R-Cycle initiative is a cross-company initiative to develop an open and globally applicable traceability standard for sustainable plastic packaging. This initiative aims to automatically record recycling-relevant packaging properties during production by providing a digital product passport and to pass them on through the value chain.
Passport to pouch circularity
Building on the successful delivery of the first-of-its-kind pouch-to-pouch mechanical recycling concept, Dow together with HP Indigo, Reifenhäuser, Cadel Deinking and Karlville have implemented the application of a digital product passport using the R-Cycle database.
The Digital Product Passport by R-Cycle provides seamless documentation of all necessary data of the PE-rich pouch with recycled content along the value chain, delivering various benefits:
